Collaboration with the Data-Driven Society Platform (mdx I / mdx II)
Although there is no direct integration with the Research Cloud System, it is possible to use the computing resources of the Data-Driven Society Platform (mdx I and mdx II), which is jointly operated by 11 universities and research institutes, including Hokkaido University, as part of the Data-Driven Society Platform Consortium.
- Currently, the Data-Driven Society Platform consists of mdx I at the University of Tokyo and mdx II at Osaka University.
- Both mdx I and mdx II are computing systems that utilize virtual machine technology. In particular, mdx II employs OpenStack and KVM, ensuring compatibility with the previous Interdisciplinary Large-Scale Computer System (former Intercloud System).
- mdx I uses a point-based system (mdx points, valid for six months), while mdx II adopts a monthly subscription model.
- If you wish to receive support from our center when using mdx, please specify “Hokkaido University Information Initiative Center” as your usage base.
- For mdx I at the University of Tokyo, it is technically possible to establish a private connection with the Research Cloud System’s Exclusive Cluster service via the SINET VPN service. However, certain conditions apply, so please consult with us in advance.
