Procedure for Continued Use of Large-scale Computer System in Academic Year 2019

Continued use of the large-scale computer system requires application for a user ID, super computer system usage, and cloud system usage. If you do not apply by the deadline, you will not be able to use services of the Center starting April 1.

In the past, you would receive an application form for continued use. However, with the new system, no application form will be sent to you. Instead, you will be notified by email with information on continued use.

The application period for continued use of the large-scale computer system for academic year 2019 is listed below.

*Please also complete the person liable for payment approval within this period.

(1) Who can apply?

Any user whose use limit is March 31, 2019

(2) Application method

1) Online

This method is recommended if you do not need to change the registration information or only need to make minor changes such as telephone number or source of payment.

Log in to Hokkaido University Information Initiative Center User Administration Portal((hereinafter referred to as “portal”) and perform the following steps.

In addition, when applying online, do not forget to complete the “Person liable for payment approval.”
(However, this process is not required if you are the person liable for payment.)
     
Use the following steps to complete the person liable for payment approval.

2) Application form

This method is recommended if you need to make complicated changes, such as changing the person liable for payment.

Note that depending on the change, we may contact you for confirmation.
 
Starting now, no application for continued use form will be sent to users.
If you wish to apply using the form, please log in to the portal as described in method 1, then use the following steps to download and print the form.

For services such as the supercomputer and cloud, application must be made from the portal.

If you have used the form to apply for a user ID, once the application is completed, you can then apply for various service from the portal.

(3) Notes on application where changes are involved
  • For online application, you can make changes to directly modifiable items using your device.
  • For items that cannot be changed online, print the PDF file and write the changes in red in the margin. You must stamp your seal when making changes to the user and person liable for payment fields. In principle, you cannot transfer your user ID to another person. However, this is permitted in some cases, so use the contact information at the bottom to contact us for details.
(4) Application for continued use of specific computing resources

Supercomputer exclusive nodes and GPU server computing resources are limited in quantity, so even if you apply, we may not be able to comply with your request. If that happens, we will contact you individually.

For supercomputer exclusive nodes, we will accept requests by email for those who cannot use the application for continued use form.

(5) Application period

February 18, 2019 (Monday) 5pm to March 26 (Tuesday) 5pm

(6) Person liable for payment

The person liable for payment registration number (ex: u99999A) granted to the person liable for payment will automatically continue to the next academic year.

However, if the person liable for payment will change (due to retirement, relocation, etc.) in the next fiscal year, an application may be required. Use the contact information at the bottom to contact us by March 22.

(7) When continued use is not required

In this case, you do not need to do anything in particular.
