Due to the planned power outage in Hokkaido University and related maintenance, our service will stop as follows. Thank you for your understanding.

○Supercomputer service
・Service stop: Sept. 3rd (Fri), 18:00 – Sept. 8th (Wed), 13:00
・During the above period, connection to Supercomputer and Application server will be unavailable (including Supercomputer File System).
・If it is predicted that a submitted job will not be completed by the service stop, the job will be queued (not start) and start after the service restarting.
・Application software that needs license activation will be unavailable during the above service stop period.

○Virtual server, Physical server, GPU server and Inter-cloud package:
・Service stop: Sept. 3rd (Fri), 17:00 – Sept. 6th (Mon), 13:00 Sept. 7th(Tue)10:20 resumed
9/6 added:Due to the trouble, the maintenance has been prolonged and we are not yet able to resume the service. We apologize for any inconvenience, and please wait until the service is restored.
9/6 17:00 added:  It is expected to take all of 9/7.
9/7 added: The restoration is almost finished and the final work is underway.

○Migrated server:
・Service stop: Sept. 3rd (Fri), 17:00 – Sept. 6th (Mon), 13:00 09:00 resumed

○Nextcloud will stop as follows:
・Service stop: Sept. 2nd (Thu), 17:00 – Sept. 6th (Mon), 13:00 09:00 resumed

We have received several inquiries about the following phenomenon in the supercomputer system.

・ When a job is canceled by the “pjdel” command, the job is stopped, but it may remain in the list displayed by the “pjstat” command.
・ The error mail of “Reason: Node down.” may be sent to the user after the job is finished or stopped.

These phenomena are caused by the time required for the system side processing after a job is finished.
The details of the cause of this phenomenon are currently under investigation.

When the error “Reason: Node down.” occurs, the operation time (token) will not be consumed on the shared nodes.
The operation time (token) of the finished job can be checked by adding the “-H” option to the “pjstat” command.

In the occasion of starting the service in 2021, we changed the default version of the following software including the compiler in the supercomputer.
You can check the default version or switch to the previous version with the “module” command.

In the occasion of starting the 2021 fiscal year service, we provide a version upgrade for Exceed onDemand. Along with this version change, it is necessary to install Exceed onDemand again if you use Exceed onDemand continuously based on the usage in 2020.
Sincerely sorry for the inconvenience, but please install it again through downloading the latest version from the user portal.

The maintenace was completed on 4/26.

Due to maintenance on the Science Information Network (SINET5), which is the upstream network of our university, network communication between the university and off-campus will be suspended as follows:

  • 26th April, 0:00am – 1:30am.
    (The suspension will affect for about 10 minutes in principle during the above period.)

During this period, the connection with the supercomputer systems, the cloud systems (all sorts of servers, cloud storage, etc.) and the user management portal are not available.

  • The program which does not need connection for running (such as being executed on the supercomputer, batch jobs that have been submitted, etc.) will not be affect by the maintenance.
  • Homepages hosted by the cloud systems will not be available during the maintenance.
  • The unavailable period may change according to the maintenance situaion.

In addition, we will inform you on the this page if the schedule is changed.

A maintenance will be conducted in the following schedule:
March 29th (Monday), 15:00 – April 2nd (Friday) 14:00, 2021.

During the maintenance, Supercomputer system including the login nodes , Application server and User portal will stop; users cannot log on them.
If it is predicted that a submitted or queued job will not be completed by 3/29 2PM, the job will be cancelled.

And the remaining tokens will not be carried-over next fiscal year.

The maintenance has finished.

Since the University network equipment update, you cannot connect with the Interdisciplinary Large-scale Computer System during the following period:
7th February, 2:00 – 8:00.
21th February, 2:00 – 8:00.

During this period, the connection with the login to login-node, Cloud System(various servers, cloud storage, etc.), User management portal are not available.

  • The program which does not need connection for running (such as being executed on the SuperComputer, batch jobs that have been submitted and etc.), will not be affect by the update.
  • The homepage which using Cloud System will not be available during update.
  • The unavailable period may change according to the update situaion. In addition, we will inform you on the following page if the schedule is changed.
